Osteopathy and Back Pain:
Back pain can be divided into acute and chronic and may be due to a number of causes. Studies suggest that approximately 80% of the population will suffer from back pain at some stage in their life. Of that 80%, approximately half of those individuals will experience recurring episodes of pain. These episodes may lead to limitations completing tasks and activities associated with mobility and self-care.
Many individuals mistakenly believe that these effects are simply due to aging, and therefore delay treatment. Delaying treatment can lead to the problem worsening, and may lead to long term difficulties such as sitting, walking, sleeping and even driving.
Balanced Bodies Osteopathy works with each patient, individually to determine the cause of pain and get their body back on track.
In your initial consultation, your osteopath will take a thorough health history, he or she will then perform a thorough physical examination to define the cause of your pain, and will then devise a treatment plan based on that information.
If your practitioner believes it is necessary to refer you for further imaging or care, this referral can often times be completed on the spot.
Osteopathy is gentle and effective and is often the last point of contact. If you are suffering from back pain, give Balanced Bodies Osteopathy a call!
